Sidney Chansamone is a multi-passionate photographer, designer, illustrator, and writer at the University of Georgia studying journalism & interdisciplinary art. Chansamone is a visual-first creative based in Athens, Georgia, and primarily shoots music, art, and culture but is welcome to freelance work and event coverage. They also work in print publication design and love to contribute to the design, content, and assembly processes. And perhaps most importantly, they are an avid cat lover, cartoon watcher, and emo music listener.
Since spring 2021, Chansamone has worked at The Red & Black as the assistant design editor, photo editor, and multimedia designer. Currently, Chansamone is the special guides and magazines chief designer and photographer at The Red & Black, the Lamar Dodd School of Art event photographer, and a photography intern at the Georgia Theatre.
Some of their awards include two Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle Awards, two superiors at the Georgia Scholastic Press Association "Summer Individual Contest," and the Magic Moment Photography Scholarship award. They and the Accipiter Staff also won the International Premier Print Award Certificate of Merit. Additionally, Chansamone was the assistant design editor when The Red & Black staff won first in the Georgia College Press Association "Better Newspaper Contest" for layout & design. In 2022, Chansamone received the William H. Fields Scholarship. Most recently, Chansamone won first place in sports photography in the Georgia Collegiate Press Association Better Newspaper Contest and second place for best photographer in the 2023 Green Eyeshade Awards.
